about

Hi, my name is Michele, but most of my clients call me Elle...
I am so glad you came to visit.
Yes, I took this picture with my iPhone, while looking in my bathroom mirror!
Why I started this blog?
I love helping people.  That's my thing, trying to take care of everyone.  I think my mom made me that way because she was the same way and she was always telling me to take care of my little brother and sister.  I'm the person who brings people together.  I'm the one having the parties, holidays and family get-togethers.  I love doing that.
That's why I love my job.  I learn so much from my clients and friends and I try to encourage them as well.  I realized how we all help each other by sharing our life experiences whether it is good, bad or sad.
I hope my blog will be a place to encourage and inspire you.

Mom & I
If you want to know more about me, please read on.  I am never shy about telling my stories and if you sat in my chair for an hour I would know everything about you too.  It's just my thing.
Can you tell what year this was taken?  Yup, Christmas 1976.  That's me in the middle.

I was born, raised, and I still live in a suburb of Los Angeles.  I grew up in a house full of music. My dad was always spinning his vinyl, and my sister and I were always practicing the piano.  I love old R&B, classic rock and new wave music; it was such a huge part of my childhood.  I also grew up eating great food everyday; my mom was always in the kitchen cooking great meals, especially mexican food.  This is such a huge part of my life now... great music, good food and people to share it with.  I love living in Southern California, mostly because my family and friends are all here, but I also love the warm, sunny weather.

I have been married to my best friend for over twenty years. Yes, I got married at the young age of twenty-three!  What could I do, I was in love, and when you find a great guy whom you have fun with, you got to keep him!

Rob & I, 2010
After seven years of having fun and traveling around we had our easy going son.  Three years later, our strong willed daughter came along.  I'm not joking; she was tough when she was a baby!  I've got lots of stories about that time of my life.  Boy, was she worth it though!

Now life is a balancing act.  Our kids play sports and they love hanging out with their friends, our two dogs, and family and friends whom we love to hang out with.

We seem to always get the dogs that have some sort of malfunction. Chicita's right ear never stayed up!
Yes, I do work outside the home.  I'm not sure I have the patience to stay home with my kids everyday.  I do drive thirty miles, into the city, a few days a week.  I love my commute because I can listen to my music (not my kids music) as loud as I want, and sing as loud as I want and drink my coffee, all by myself.
Good times!

I have been very blessed to have a career that I LOVE.  I get to hang out with my friends and make them feel and look beautiful!  I have been a hairstylist for over twenty years in West Hollywood.  When I was twenty-six years old I opened L Salon.  I was young and a little naive but I learned how to run a business, as I went along.  I read lots of books and took lots of classes (no, I never graduated from college).  My salon grew and I doubled its size twice!  I owned L Salon for over fifteen years, which was chosen as one of the top salons in the country by Salon Today magazine.  My mad hairdressing skills have been in Allure, In Style, Lucky and many other magazines.  I was in Allure magazine as one of the top colorist in Los Angeles.  (Sorry, but I had to brag.  Come on, it's Allure Magazine, I was shocked!)
I sold L Salon because as it grew it required more of my time.  My kids were getting older too and they needed more of my time.  I took a few years off from being a business owner and now own Salon Three with two partners and love (almost) every minute of it.

Things that I love...
I'm always looking for anything that inspires me in my daily life.  I love art, fashion, architecture, photography, graphic design, going to concerts, traveling, throwing parties, and, most of all, music.  I'm addicted to ice tea and dark chocolate, and my favorite color is orange.

I try to find time to go running or work out, cook new recipes, learn something new, read a good book, and I love hanging out with my family and friends... and remembering to thank God for all of it!
Welcome to my lifestyle blog where you'll find hair tips and tutorials, do it yourself art and projects for the home, a little about my style, some great music, my family life and some things to encourage and inspire you.

I would love it if you stayed awhile and introduced yourself!
